Destructive Bow Echo Slams Omaha

A compact, but powerful little bow echo blasted through the Omaha metro on Wednesday evening, before charging into western Iowa and eventually landing in Des Moines a couple of hours later.

5:45 PM Wed, Jul 31 Omaha, Nebraska Radar:

The Omaha Public Power District reported over 200,000 customers were without power after the storms swept through with 90 MPH wind gusts. As of 6 AM CT, 160,000+ were still in the dark. Here's the latest from OPPD: https://stormandoutage.com/2024/07/31/power-outages-possible-with-strong-winds/

Unfortunately, this is just another blow in an extremely rough 2024 storm season for folks in the Omaha metro. Going back to April, Omaha and surrounding areas have been subjected to repeated strikes from significant severe weather events, including the destructive April 26th, 2024 tornado outbreak.
